FAQ's

If you’ve never worked with a designer before, don’t despair! Here’s a list of all the questions that we’ve been asked in the past that you might find useful.

How much will it cost? 
Our prices vary depending on the nature of the project. All our quotes are free and are with no obligation. All quotes are valid for a period of 28 days are are subject to confirmation/ receipt of order. 

Why are your prices so affordable?
We work full time and design in our spare time, which allows us to keep costs down whilst we slowly build our business.

Can I use the designs you create for commercial use?
Yes. All the designs can be used how you wish, as long as they aren’t changed/ amended. If you want to have full rights to the designs and want to change them yourself down the line, we can transfer the copyright of the logo to you for an extra fee. Please let us know before commissioning us for a project, that way we can provide you with he most competitive quote. If you decide to go down this route, we’ll still reserve the right to show the logo/artwork in our portfolio of work.

Once you’ve designed our logo for us, do we own copyright to it?
Unless agreed in writing, the copyright of all artwork/ commissioned artwork belong to Black Orchid Design. Even though we own copyright, we’ll grant you usage, as long the artwork is not amended/ changed in anyway by yourself or any 3rd party. The designer shall retain ownership of all artwork (including roughs and any other materials) delivered to you (the client). 

Can you help me with print? 
Yes. If you’d like us to deal with the print side of things for us, just get in touch. 

Do I have to pay upfront?
For all design work we will require a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the quote. This allows us to start the work and make sure you are happy with how things are proceeding. Any extras (stock photography or vector packages) will be at an extra cost, but we will advise you beforehand. The remaining 50% will need to be paid upon completion of the job.

What happens if I don’t like the design?
We always do our best for our clients and if you aren’t happy with our work, just let us know after you get the first draft of the designs. First rounds of minor amends are free, but if you feel that the designs need more work and really aren’t in the style you were hoping, you’ll have the right to cancel the project, but we won’t be able to refund the initial deposit.

How do I contact you to book you in? I’m quite busy, and haven’t got time to meet up in person.
The best way to book us in for a project is to email. We don’t need to meet up if you are busy. With today’s technology, we can work remotely, so feel free to contact us by email at any time. If you prefer to talk to us about a project, no problem. Just drop us an email first and we’ll give you a call back. We have several online design packages on offer, but if none are suitable, just drop us a message and we’ll create something a little more bespoke.

My design job is highly confidential. Will you share any of our business information with your clients?
No. We treat and respect the personal information our clients pass onto us and recognise the importance of protecting your privacy. Your details, rates and any information that you share with us shall not be passed on, nor disclosed at any time.
